The Task Force Releases a Case Study Featuring Evolent’s Comprehensive Oncology Model

WASHINGTON D.C. (August 11, 2026) – The Health Care Transformation Task Force released a new publication, Aligning Oncology Incentives to Drive High-Value Cancer Care, featuring Evolent’s comprehensive oncology model. This approach drives high-value cancer care through clinical expertise, provider alignment, and patient engagement.

Evolent’s model incorporates high-value clinical pathways to guide providers toward the highest-quality treatment regimens and away from low-value care. After implementation, adherence to Evolent’s clinical pathways increased by about 30%, while use of low-value regimens decreased by 20%. Another component of Evolent’s program, care navigation, reduced hospitalizations and emergency department visits by 40% while achieving a 95% patient satisfaction score.

“At Evolent, we believe advancing cancer care requires aligning clinical decision-making with the evidence and patients’ goals to achieve what matters most: better outcomes and a better quality of life with cancer,” said Andrew Hertler, MD, FACP, Chief Medical Officer-Emeritus and Senior Advisor at Evolent. “We help ensure patients receive high-value care by combining oncology pathways, provider incentives, and personalized support for patients throughout their care journey.”

“This value-based oncology care model demonstrates that rewarding providers for delivering care aligned with clinical guidelines can improve treatment and outcomes for cancer patients,” said Theresa Dreyer, MPH, CEO of the Health Care Transformation Task Force. “This case study highlights the opportunity to transform oncology care by supporting high-value treatment decisions, improving care coordination, and ensuring that patients receive care aligned with their needs and preferences.”

This publication is part of a series of case studies on value-based specialty integration.
