12 Feb The Task Force Releases a Value-Based Oncology Case Study Featuring Thyme Care
WASHINGTON (February 12, 2025) – The Health Care Transformation Task Force (Task Force) – a group of leading health care payers, providers, purchasers, patient organizations, and value transformation partners – released a new case study on oncology in collaboration with Thyme Care. The publication, Advancing Value-Based Oncology Through 24/7, Integrated Virtual Cancer Care, examines how value-based oncology models can reduce avoidable utilization, improve care coordination and patient experience, and lower total cost of care.
The case study highlights Thyme Care’s oncology-focused value-based care model, which combines continuous virtual navigation, integration with oncology providers, and financial accountability for outcomes across Medicare Advantage and commercial populations. This is the first in a series of case studies on value-based specialty integration.
“Oncology is one of the most complex and high-cost areas of care, making it a critical opportunity for value-based transformation,” said Theresa Dreyer, CEO of the Task Force. “This case study shows how patient navigation and close alignment between providers can help cancer patients get effective, streamlined care.”
“Payers need a better way to support patients and more visibility into what is happening between oncology visits while managing the total cost of care more predictably. Thyme Care does this by aligning incentives across payers, providers, and patients, combining 24/7 oncology-specific support with close partnerships with oncologists to identify risk sooner, intervene earlier, and reduce avoidable utilization,” said Julia Ivanova, Senior Vice President of Growth and Partnerships at Thyme Care. “We’re proud to showcase how our model improves care and lowers costs through outcomes-based financial arrangements that make value-based oncology work at scale.”
