Statement by Jeff Micklos, JD, Executive Director, Health Care Transformation Task Force

The Health Care Transformation Task Force congratulates Liz Fowler on her appointment as CMS Deputy Administrator and Director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation. Fowler is a seasoned health policy veteran who brings a broad range of experiences and perspectives to the Center’s task of transforming our health care system into one focused on value of care over volume of services. Well-versed in navigating the federal government, she is an ideal leader at an important time in CMMI’s life cycle. The Task Force looks forward to working with Fowler and the CMMI team on prioritizing its model portfolio, improving key models and the Center’s operations, and addressing the critically important yet challenging issues of advancing health equity and social determinants of health through innovative payment models.
