Reimagining Beneficiary Engagement in Accountable Care Models

The Health Care Transformation Task Force (HCTTF) and the National Association of ACOs (NAACOS) developed recommendations for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to strengthen beneficiary engagement opportunities for accountable care organizations (ACOs). The recommendations call for CMS to:

        • Give patients a clearer choice in where and how they receive care
        • Nurture strong patient-provider relationships through improved communication
        • Equip patients to be better partners in their care

ACOs share CMS’ goal of empowering patients to make informed decisions. These reforms would strengthen patient-provider relationships, improve quality, and support care innovation, while achieving cost savings.
