HCTTF Joins Coalition Letter Encouraging HHS to Leverage Payment Models to Advance Equity

The Health Care Transformation Task Force joined 16 other national healthcare organizations in signing a coalition letter urging Health and Human Services Secretary Becerra to fully leverage value-based payment strategies as a component of the Administration’s plans to advance health equity. Changing the way health care is paid for is a key component of developing a higher quality, more affordable, and equitable system and HHS has the ability to drive this change. Alternative payment models routinely leverage multi-disciplinary approaches to care, enable the assessment of social risks and needs, support partnerships with community organizations to increase access to nonmedical services, and leverage data to improve disparities in patient outcomes. The letter below contains shared recommendations of HCTTF and 16 other national healthcare organizations to Secretary Becerra on incorporating APMs in HHS’ health equity strategy.
