HCTTF Statement on the Medicare Shared Savings Program 2024 Performance Results

Statement by Theresa Dreyer, CEO

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released the 2024 financial and quality performance results for the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP), showing $2.4 billion in Medicare savings – the highest in the program’s history. Participating Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) earned $4.1 billion in shared savings payments, while continuing to deliver high-quality, coordinated care to more than 10 million Medicare beneficiaries.

The Health Care Transformation Task Force congratulates our members who contributed to this accomplishment. With 476 ACOs participating, MSSP continues to demonstrate that value-based care models can both improve health outcomes and reduce costs. These results affirm the importance of supporting care models that prioritize prevention, chronic disease management, and care coordination while advancing innovation across the health care system.
